La Casa in Oceania—Sacchi's Ingham Novel
Abstract
Fiippo Sacchi arrived in North Queensland in 1925. Born in Vicenza, Veneto, on 6th April, 1887, he had graduated in "Lettere e fiosofia" at the University of Padua; then taught in schools for some time, until in December 1914 he joined the staff of the Corriere della sera, one of Italy's foremost daily papers. He soon became a very active special correspondent and travelled extensively in Austria, Hungary, Jugoslavia, Morocco, Spain, Holland, Australia and New Zealand. Besides numerous travel reports in the Corriere, by 1925 he had published three books, Coloir di un prisrna (1911), Uornini idee nelle mostre d'arte del 1912 (1912) and Città (1914). More were to come later, but for the moment let us stop in Ingham in mid-winter 1925.
