Aid Work, Travel and Representation: Inez Baranay's Rascal Rain and Alice Walker's Warrior Marks
Abstract
I see the collision of three categories or identities which have remained mutually exclusive, and have served 'some interests by doing so, namely: the tourist, the traveller, and the aid worker. These roles may be constructed through a series of hierarchical oppositions, but I will argue that the three actually share the same ground.
