Foundation for Australian Literary Studies Monograph No. 3. 1970, The Personal Element in Australian Poetry

Authors

  • James McAuley

Abstract

Based on the 1968 Lectures of the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies at the University College of Townsville by James McAuley, this monograph looks at some of the main Australian poets over the past century or so who have tried to find ways of dealing with personal experience. McAuley addresses the question of the relation between poetry and personal experience; and, in particular, what are the ways in which a personal element enters poetry.
