Abstract

The essay explores approachs to existential problems within Patrick White's novel Riders in the Chariot. Rodolfo Delmonte proposes that endeavours by characters to justify their existences are in line with White's approach to writing, and uses such endeavours as a frame for the examination of ambiguity in the text.
