Footy in Berlin—David Williamson's The Club—First German Performance

Abstract

Noel Macainsh provides an examination of the reception of David Williamson's play The Club in its first Berlin performance at Schlosspark theatre. Macainsh suggests that although the play is ostensibly about Australian football it is easily grasped by a German audience because of its engagement with issues surrounding capitalism and free-market trade.
