Tertiary Education and the Development of Australian Theatre

Authors

  • John Clark

Abstract

John Clark observes that through the 1960s and 70s there had been an unprecedented expansion of the theatre arts in Australia made possible by an increasing acceptance of government support as a necessary prerequisite for professional theatre. The essay uses this observation as impetus to examine the relationship between tertiary institutions and the development of Australian theatre.
