The Role of the Theatre Director in Australia

Authors

  • Ric Nelson

Abstract

Starting from a position that the role of the theatre is to entertain, Ric Nelson examines the nature of the role of the theatre director in an Australian context. Nelson proposes that in the Australian context the role of the director is multifaceted and includes the fostering of local talent, ensuring a range of material is depicted and recognising commercial concerns.
